Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this unique and life-changing role, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in the home.

Flex Houseparents begin with a nine days on, three days off schedule, then transition to Placed Houseparent living with the same group.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Must be a legally married couple for at least two years.
• Both spouses must be 27 years or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the home.
• Smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty.
• Pet allowances: fish and one dog of approved breeds only.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; able to become certified to drive student vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff are role models.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship
• Managing household routines and student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental and recreational activities
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting
• Following a nine consecutive days on duty, then three days off schedule; unscheduled time on weekdays while students are in school
• Transitioning into Placed Houseparent living with the same group of students
