Job summary

Peco is seeking a live haul supervisor to oversee crew operations on poultry farms and at the processing plant. The role requires direct supervision of at least three employees and adherence to company standards and schedules.

Responsibilities include ensuring safe handling of birds, maintaining the crew van, and coordinating with the live haul manager for site readiness. Candidates should comply with all animal welfare and regulatory requirements.

• Efficiently cage and transport birds from the farm to the plant.
• Arrange pick-up and drop off of crew members if needed.
• Maintain crew van and ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness.
• Hold a valid license to drive the van and operate it safely.
• Follow catch schedules and coordinate with the live haul manager and Producer for chicken house prep.
• Comply with animal welfare and biosecurity programs; enforce zero tolerance for animal welfare issues.
• Supervise loaders to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Ensure weather-related tasks are properly managed (fans, wetting birds, wrapping cages).
• Complete load tickets, payroll records, and communicate with relevant parties.
• Care for chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely; maintain adequate staffing.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations.

Job description

• Directly supervises at least 3 employees.
• Conducts all responsibilities in a manner that aligns with Peco’s vision, mission and core value.
• Overall responsibility is to efficiently cage and transport birds from the farm to the plant.
• If desired by the crew member, arrange pick-up and drop off of crew member.
• Properly maintain crew van; ensure proper maintenance is performed and van is kept clean.
• Maintain a license for driving van; legally and properly drive van.
• Adhere to catch schedule as developed by the live haul manager and coordinate with the Producer to prepare the chicken houses for catching.
• Follow all animal welfare and biosecurity programs. Enforce a zero tolerance policy for company employees on animal welfare issues.
• Run crew in a manner that meets the company goals in regard to bird damage, DOA’s, farm dead and time.
• Supervises loader operators so that they operate in a safe manner.
• Ensure that any weather handling tasks (fans, wetting birds, wrapping cages) are in place and properly done.
• Control trash and damage to the Producer’s facilities.
• Fill out load tickets and give a copy to the Producer, the driver, and the live haul manager.
• Complete payroll records properly and submit to live haul manager.
• Handles and ensures employees handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
• Maintain adequate staffing.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.

Physical Demands:

• Sitting/standing/walking and driving 100% of the workday.
• Working in normal room environment, outside environment, and in cold, hot, humid, and dusty conditions.
• Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
• Physically able to climb a ladder at various heights.
