Job summary

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gladstone, MO is seeking a full-time Liturgist & Music Director to lead parish liturgy planning and choral music for weekend Masses and school Masses.

You will select, rehearse and direct choral music, train cantors, manage budgets, coordinate with academy staff, and ensure proper licensing and music library maintenance. Weekend/evening availability and a practicing Catholic ethos are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with Roman Catholic liturgy and sacred music.
• Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent experience required.
• Competency with piano and/or organ.
• Strong vocal skills and ability to teach music to the congregation.
• Experience in choral conducting and keyboard or vocal performance.
• Must be available to work weekends and some evenings.
• Practicing Catholic with ethical standards, personal integrity, and conduct consistent with the morals and teachings of the Catholic Church.

Responsibilities

• Select/rehearse/direct choral music selections with the liturgical calendar for the parish choirs.

• Train, Supervise, and schedule cantors and other musicians.
• Hire holiday musicians and accompanists for Chirstmas and Easter as needed.
• Maintain the parish music library, equipment, and instruments.
• Work closely with academy staff to plan music selections for school masses and other special events like Christmas concerts.
• Assist preparation of music for Funerals and Weddings.
• Report all copyright licensing and usage of published music.
• Provide keyboard accompaniment for weekend and special liturgies.
• Work within the approved budget for the parish music ministry.
• Meet regularly with parish staff, Fr. Thomas, and musicians.
