Job summary

St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Curtis Bay seeks a Sacristan to manage the sacristy, oversee liturgical preparations, and maintain vessels and vestments. This part-time role requires 10 hours weekly, including Sundays, with responsibility for supplies and coordination with church staff.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, basic Microsoft Office skills, and a reliable, independent work style. Training for sound system operation is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of the Catholic Church; including sacraments.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Dependable and able to work independently.
• Able to communicate effectively in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of liturgical celebrations and support Mass coordination.
• Maintain order in the sacristy and care for vessels, vestments, and furnishings.
• Order supplies and candles; arrange weekend Mass books.
• Operate the sound system when trained.
• Coordinate with office staff, funeral homes, and bereavement ministry.
• Lock church after worshipers depart and assist with building upkeep.
• Coordinate with maintenance for cleaning and care of facilities.
