Job summary

RiseMe is seeking a dedicated Music Director to oversee the liturgical music program, selecting pieces in consultation with the pastor and planning schedules for musicians. The role requires strong liturgical knowledge and the ability to work closely with staff and volunteers to ensure quality music for parish celebrations.

The director will recruit and train musicians, coordinate Holy Week and Holy Day liturgies, and manage arrangements for weddings and funerals as needed, including IT setup

Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Music director will oversee selecting music for liturgies in consultation with pastor
2. Music director will oversee planning and scheduling of musicians
3. Music director will oversee advance planning for Holy Week, special feasts and Holy Day liturgies. Director will also schedule music and musicians for these days.
4. Music director will serve as a resource for faith formation events, sacramental celebrations, and other faith formation needs.
5. Music director will collaborate with others, including staff, to ensure for IT equipment and arrangements are in place for parish liturgy and other parish needs as requested in advance.
6. Music director may help with arrangements for funerals and weddings i.e., consultation with pastor, consultation with families for funeral music as needed, music consultation with wedding parties.
7. Music director will be responsible for: recruitment and training of musicians, ongoing formation for musicians, song leaders, and other members of the music ministry

Planning/Organization Responsibilities

Music director will be responsible for: recruitment and training of musicians, ongoing formation for musicians, song leaders, and other members of the music ministry. Director will be able to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; work in an organized manner.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Director needs a bachelor’s degree in music

Director needs to be proficient in music, particularly piano/organ and conducting.

It is also highly recommended that the director be proficient in a particular instrument or voice.

Language Skills

Director needs to be able to communicate well with musicians and give directions on how to execute music in a way that will enhance the liturgy.

Computer and Technology Skills

Director needs to be proficient in basic computer skills for the sake of electronic communication with musicians. Director also needs to be able to record and disseminate music to musicians.

Director needs a working knowledge of IT equipment, procedures for live streaming, and procedures for recording both parish liturgies and presentations.

Physical Demands
