Qualifications

• Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or Certified Paralegal (CP).
• 2 years’ legal litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft routine pleadings for review and editing by the attorney.
• Electronically file pleadings.
• Prepare subpoenas.
• Assist in maintaining task lists.
• Ensure attorney is prepared for court.

Skills

Knowledge of legal format and legal terminology

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and spreadsheets

Ability to prepare legal documents

Skill in taking and transcribing dictation

Ability to work independently

Ability to deal with the public effectively
