Job summary

Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in Orange County seeks a Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys across all phases of litigation, from case management to trial preparation. You will handle document review/production, docket management, and cite-checking, working under supervision.

Trial, Labor & Employment, and IP Litigation exposure are highly valued. The role reports to the Associate Director of Paralegal Services and the Manager, Paralegal Services, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and substantive paralegal experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience at an AmLaw 100 firm preferred.
  • Trial experience required.
  • Labor and Employment and IP Litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in California state and U.S. federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency in Lexis Nexis and Westlaw.
  • Proficient in iManage.
  • Experience with eDiscovery Databases such as Relativity, Opus 2, and CaseMap.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation from case initiation through trial and appeals.
  • Prepare appellate records and appendices, including compiling and reviewing trial court documents and transcripts.
  • Assisting with calendaring case deadlines.
  • Assisting with drafting court filings and preparations in Federal and State courts, including appellate courts.
  • Assisting with discovery, document collection, organization, review, and productions.
  • Proofreading, cite checking and Bluebooking court briefs and discovery documents.
  • Assisting with deposition, meeting, or interview preparations.
  • Assisting with all aspects, including travel, of trial and arbitration preparations.
  • Assisting litigation and appellate teams with preparations for oral arguments, including creating case and briefing binders.
  • Preparing various charts and indices.
  • Preparing and submitting timekeeping reports.
  • Coordinating with external vendors.

Based in our Orange County office, the Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys and other paralegal staff in all phases of litigation, including case management, court filings, document review and production, docket management, document organization, drafting and responding to discovery, deposition and trial preparation, and cite‑checking. Working under attorney supervision, you will have the opportunity to work on high stakes cases with a dynamic legal team. Trial experience is a must, with strong preference for candidates with Labor and Employment and IP Litigation experience.

This role reports to the Associate Director of Paralegal Services and the Manager, Paralegal Services.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to support complex litigation cases from beginning to end.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to multi‑task, balancing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to efficiently handle multiple projects and client matters simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with members across multiple offices.
  • Available to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Understanding of common litigation practices, procedures, regulations, and workflow.
Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and substantive paralegal experience. Candidate must meet any applicable state requirements governing the performance of paralegal duties, including any required certifications or qualifications.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience at an AmLaw 100 firm preferred.
  • Trial experience required.
  • Labor and Employment and IP Litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in California state and U.S. federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency in Lexis Nexis and Westlaw.

The annual compensation range for this position is $90-120k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
