Job summary

Ascendion, a Texas-based law firm, seeks an experienced Litigation Paralegal for its Houston office to support a busy commercial litigation practice across diverse industries. The role demands high organization, proactive management of document productions, and ownership through all litigation phases from pre-suit through trial.

You will work closely with attorneys on high-profile matters in a collaborative environment, becoming an integral member of the litigation team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; a combination of relevant education and significant litigation experience will be considered.
  • Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal court filing rules and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity, DISCO, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with document management systems; familiarity with iManage or similar platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
  • Prepare and manage written discovery, including drafting responses, coordinating document collection, and organizing productions.
  • Utilize eDiscovery platforms to review, organize, analyze, and produce documents in large-scale litigation matters.
  • Maintain case files and monitor deadlines, court schedules, and docket activity across an active commercial litigation caseload.
  • Coordinate with testifying and consulting experts, including scheduling, document exchange, and management of expert-related materials.
  • Prepare exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and other documents for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial.
  • Attend and assist at trial proceedings as needed.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and court personnel.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $75,000 – $100,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
