Job summary

Fish & Richardson P.C. in Minneapolis is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal with a minimum of 3 years’ litigation paralegal experience in a law firm, with a preference for patent litigation, in a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the Minneapolis office.

You will coordinate case management, prepare documents, file papers electronically, manage depositions, and support trial logistics while collaborating with clients and local counsel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ litigation paralegal experience in a law firm.
• Experience with patent litigation preferred.
• Hybrid role requiring in-office presence in Minneapolis at least 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate creation of case management repository for new matters and carry primary responsibility for case file organization.
• Generate and format legal documents; prepare and organize exhibits for filing and service; coordinate with local counsel.
• Electronically file court papers and stay current with electronic filing rules.
• Inform LDD when new matters open and share documents with the inbox to meet workflow needs.
• Schedule and coordinate depositions and distribution of transcripts and errata sheets.
• Communicate with expert witnesses, coordinate logistics and assist with expert report drafting.
• Communicate with clients and answer inquiries.
• Assist with pre-trial planning, coordinate trial logistics and on-site support.

How Will You Make a Difference?

• Coordinate creation of case management repository for new matters and carry primary responsibility for case file organization, including but not limited to prompt ECF downloading and distribution.
• Generate and format legal documents; prepare and organize exhibits and finalize for filing and service; coordinate with local counsel and process server.
• Electronically file court papers, remaining current in the nuances of electronic filing rules in pertinent jurisdictions to ensure successful submissions.
• Inform the Litigation Docketing Department (“LDD”) when any new matter is opened; promptly email all filed, served and received documents, party agreements, discovery requests, deposition notices, etc., to the LDD inbox; work closely with LDD to ensure workflow needs are met.
• Schedule and coordinate depositions, including maintenance of deposition calendar, transcript processing, and distribution of transcripts and errata sheets to witnesses.
• Communicate with expert witnesses, coordinate logistics and assist with expert report drafting.
• Communicate with clients; answer or direct inquiries.
• Participate in pre-trial planning, coordinate trial logistics and participate in trial events, including on-site support and post-trial shut down.

What Will You Bring to the Table?

• Minimum of 3 years’ litigation paralegal experience in a law firm environment, with the focus on legal services delivery.
• Experience with patent litigation is preferred.
• Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
• Occasional travel is required in this position.
• This is a hybrid role requiring the ability to work in the Minneapolis office a minimum of 2 days per week or more as needed

• The pay range for this position varies by geographic market. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including education, experience, skills, professional background, overall qualifications, and location. In Minneapolis, the estimated starting pay is $40.00 - $49.74 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $78,000 - $97,000 annually.
