Job summary

West Des Moines-based law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join their team. Open to candidates with experience in any litigation practice area offered by the firm, including business and commercial litigation, construction, employment, family law, personal injury, insurance defense and IP, banking, and creditors’ rights.

This position will represent individuals, businesses, and government entities while collaborating with attorneys across practice groups; workload will reflect

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Iowa bar admission, or eligibility to obtain admission.
• Litigation experience in one or more of the firm’s practice areas.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage matters independently while working effectively with a team.

Responsibilities

• Handle litigation matters from initial evaluation through discovery, motion practice, settlement, and trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and develop practical case strategies.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Communicate with clients about case developments, options, and potential outcomes.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff while managing deadlines and competing priorities.
