Job summary

Service Specialists Ltd. seeks a Litigation Attorney in Jackson to manage insurance defense and civil litigation from intake through resolution. You will draft pleadings, participate in depositions, and handle hearings with the team.

You should have a J.D. from an accredited law school and be licensed or able to obtain Mississippi Bar admission. Strong research, writing, and client-service skills are essential.

A respected and growing Jackson law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its insurance litigation practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who wants to handle substantive litigation, take ownership of cases, and continue developing courtroom and client experience within an established firm. The attorney will work on a variety of insurance-related and civil defense matters and have the opportunity to manage cases through all stages of litigation.

In this role

• Handle insurance defense and related civil litigation matters
• Manage cases from initial evaluation through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Attend hearings, mediations, negotiations, and court proceedings
• Evaluate claims, liability, damages, and litigation exposure
• Develop case strategy and provide clients with clear recommendations
• Communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and other parties
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings as appropriate
• Travel as needed for depositions, hearings, mediations, and other case-related matters

About you

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed and in good standing with the Mississippi Bar, or able to obtain appropriate licensure
• Litigation experience preferred; insurance defense experience is a plus but is not required
• Attorneys coming out of a judicial clerkship will also be considered
• Strong research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Comfortable managing multiple cases and competing deadlines
• Strong communication and client-service skills
• Self-motivated and ready to take meaningful responsibility for cases
• $120,000–$160,000+ DOE
• Performance bonus opportunity
• 1,850 annual billable-hour requirement
