Job summary

Job description

Crain Caton & James is a collegial, entrepreneurial firm in downtown Houston with a broad litigation practice. We are looking for a litigation associate to work in the probate litigation area with at least two to three years of experience who is ready to take on real responsibility and grow with the firm.

In this role you will handle hearings independently, take and defend depositions, prepare and respond to written discovery, and draft pleadings, motions, and briefing. You will assist with trial preparation and may serve as second or third chair at trial. The opportunity to manage a case from start to finish is available to associates who are ready for it. Some of our litigation work touches on probate matters, so a willingness to learn probate law is important, though prior probate experience is not required.

We are looking for someone with strong research and writing skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and courtroom experience. Just as important is the kind of initiative that fits an entrepreneurial firm where associates are trusted early and their contributions are visible.
