Job summary

Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP in Rochester, NY (with Buffalo office) seeks an Associate in its Litigation group. The attorney will handle a broad range of commercial and business disputes, from initial evaluation through settlement or trial, representing companies, fiduciaries, and individuals in state and federal courts.

The role requires strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills, with experience in courtroom or arbitration settings preferred, and the ability to manage a caseload

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in New York State.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Courtroom or arbitration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes and business torts.
• Handle real estate, construction, and creditor rights litigation, including bankruptcy matters.
• Represent clients in corporate and partnership disputes, including business divorce and dissolution.
• Advise clients on insurance coverage, lender liability, and other business risk disputes.
• Manage matters from initial case evaluation through settlement or trial, with direct client contact throughout.
