Job summary

Buchanan is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its highly regarded US law firm in either the San Francisco or Silicon Valley office. The role entails handling a broad range of complex commercial disputes for sophisticated clients.

Candidates with experience in copyright, trademark, trade secret or consumer class action matters are particularly well suited. A genuine interest in the technology sector and strong drafting, analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience
• Qualified to practise in California, or eligible to become qualified
• Experience in copyright, trademark, trade secret or consumer class action litigation would be advantageous

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of complex commercial disputes for sophisticated clients. Candidates with experience in copyright, trademark, trade secret or consumer class action matters will be particularly well suited to the role.

The firm is keen to meet associates with a genuine interest in the technology sector. Previous technology-focused experience is welcome but not essential, provided candidates can demonstrate a clear interest in working with businesses operating in this space.

The role

• Work on complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs and other court submissions
• Support discovery, depositions, hearings and trial preparation

Candidate profile

• Qualified to practise in California, or eligible to become qualified

• Strong commercial litigation experience gained at a recognised law firm
• Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
• Experience in copyright, trademark, trade secret or consumer class action litigation would be advantageous
