Responsibilities

Orrick is seeking a junior to mid-level associate with 2-4 years of experience to join our market-leading Fintech and Financial Advisory practice in any of our California offices. This role involves assisting clients in the financial services industry with litigation, government investigations, and enforcement matters.

The ideal candidate will have experience with and be responsible for supporting senior attorneys and clients with the following tasks:

  • Managing all stages of litigation discovery and responses to government subpoenas and civil investigative demands, including coordinating the collection of information from clients, interfacing with document custodians, and preparing responses
  • Assisting with preparations for negotiations with government enforcement attorneys regarding scope of investigation and preparing client advocacy materials
  • Participating in witness and client interviews and depositions, including preparation of same
  • Preparing legal memoranda, correspondence to clients and opposing counsel, reports, motions, briefs, pleadings, and settlement agreements
  • Assisting with the development of litigation and settlement strategies for cases in federal and state court
  • Performing legal research on federal and state consumer financial services laws and regulations
  • Communicating in writing and orally with clients and senior attorneys regarding strategy, regulatory risk, and business operations
  • Writing, editing, and reviewing reports, communications, presentations, and articles
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and creative, possessing exceptional interpersonal and writing skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Candidates must be comfortable handling multiple assignments simultaneously, and must be thorough, efficient, and detail-oriented in their work.

A juris doctorate degree and membership to the California State Bar is required. Litigation and/or enforcement experience required, and consumer financial services and/or payments experience are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $235,000 and $310,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
