Job summary

Verkor, based at the Verkor Innovation Center in Grenoble, France, seeks a Process Development Engineer to advance lithium-ion cell assembly processes from concept to pilot scale. You will work with design, materials, and equipment teams to ensure scalable, robust, and industry-competitive processes.

You will design DoE studies, analyze data, and lead pilot-line definitions, with hands-on experience in dry/cleanroom environments and automation equipment development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering.
• At least 3 years in lithium-ion battery process development, or 6 years for a senior role.
• Strong experience in cell assembly or formation processes.
• Proven experience with DoE, statistical analysis, and data-driven optimization.
• Experience with custom automation equipment development and technical specifications.
• Hands-on experience in dry room or cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop cell assembly processes from concept to pilot-scale validation.
• Design experiments to understand process windows, parameters, and failure mechanisms.
• Lead pilot-line process definition, capability assessment, and scale-up readiness.
• Interface with equipment suppliers to translate process requirements into specs.
• Collaborate with cell design and materials teams to optimize architecture for yield.
• Establish process targets, control strategies, and documentation for handover.
• Perform root cause analysis on assembly defects during development.
• Benchmark assembly technologies against top-tier lithium-ion battery manufacturers.
