Job summary

Simmons University in Boston is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Literature and Writing. The position begins Fall 2027, with an initial one-year contract and potential renewal.

Candidates should have expertise in British or American literature, culture, and history, and be prepared to teach composition and close reading across levels from first-year writing to senior seminars.

Qualifications

• Evidence of excellent teaching.
• We welcome applications from scholars, authors, instructors with creative, academic, and/or professional experience.
• MA, MFA or ABD considered, PhD in literature or a related discipline preferred

Responsibilities

• Carry a 7-course teaching load per academic year.
• Provide support for students through office hours and direct work.
• Advise students.
• Attend department meetings in person or remote.
• Participate in curricular renewal and revision.
• Continued professional development in teaching and discipline.
• Other duties as assigned.
