Job summary

KIPP Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Teacher Assistant to deliver high-quality literacy instruction aligned with Missouri standards and to support students academically and culturally. You will collaborate with teachers to meet diverse learning needs and contribute to a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.

You will help maintain records, track progress, and participate in school-wide activities and supervision duties, fostering student growth and engagement throughout

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Relentless focus on results and a commitment to teamwork.
• Deep commitment to educational equity and underserved communities.
• Valid Missouri Sub Teaching license with required certification for subject and level assigned*.
• Demonstrated knowledge of core subject area assigned.
• Satisfactory outcome of a background check.
• Applicants pursuing certification may apply before certification is received; must be on file by end of first year.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality literacy instruction based on Missouri State standards.
• Assist in internalizing lesson plans and preparing materials for diverse learners.
• Maintain accurate records, grade books, and data tracking systems.
• Work with small groups to reinforce foundational literacy skills.
• Internalize standards-based, backwards-planned unit and lesson plans.
• Use assessment data to adjust plans to improve student outcomes.
• Embrace feedback and demonstrate continuous improvement.
• Support classroom teacher with assigned duties.
