Job summary

Green Dot Corporation is seeking a Literacy Curriculum Specialist to coach teachers and support ELA/ELD implementation across multiple schools. You will contribute to professional development, curriculum resources, and data-informed instructional planning.

The role requires collaboration with site leaders, district teams, and literacy leads to sustain literacy strategies and district plans while traveling between sites in the greater Los Angeles area.

Qualifications

  • Have a passion for dramatically improving student experiences and outcomes in science and a belief in serving ALL students.
  • Have at least four years of successful teaching of English at the secondary school level.
  • Have a valid secondary English credential.
  • Have a master’s degree in education or related field (preferred).
  • Are able to travel between the Central Office (Downtown LA) and school sites/other locations around the greater Los Angeles area.
  • Have knowledge of the Common Core ELA Standards, CA ELD Standards, and aligned instruction.
  • Have knowledge of differentiated classroom instructional practices that promote student academic success in science.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Are experienced in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers.
  • Are dependable, humble, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve.
  • Will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade-level standards-aligned ELA and ELD instruction for ALL students.
  • Implement coaching services in alignment with coaching goals and student outcomes (co-planning, data analysis, etc.).
  • Collaborate with administrators and department leaders around ELA goals.
  • Support curriculum through resources, pacing recommendations, grading guidance, and assessment design.
  • Coach teachers in ELA assessments and data analysis to inform instruction.
  • Plan and facilitate ELA professional development.
  • Support district and school-wide literacy strategies and plans.
  • Coordinate literacy efforts across home office and campus leadership teams.
  • Provide guidance and professional development to literacy leads to sustain literacy plans.
  • Attend district PD and act as liaison between home office and campuses.
  • In conjunction with program leaders, support MTSS for students based on need.
  • Engage in other duties relevant to implementing Green Dot ELA/ELD Programs.

Job description

OPPORTUNITY
The Literacy Curriculum Specialist will support teachers in the implementation of the Green Dot ELA and ELD Programs at multiple schools through coaching, professional development and curriculum development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide teachers with instructional coaching and support to implement grade-level standards-aligned ELA and ELD instruction for ALL students
  • Implement a variety of coaching services in alignment with co-constructed coaching goals and student outcomes (co-planning, student work analysis, data analysis, co-teaching or demo lessons, guided peer observations, etc.)
  • Collaborate with administrators and department leaders at school sites around department goals for ELA instruction
  • Support adopted curriculum and GD ELA courses through the creation of supporting resources (pacing recommendations, grading guidance, assessment design, etc.)
  • Support the implementation of ELA assessments by coaching teachers and supporting schools with analyzing available data and planning for adjustments to instruction
  • Work collaboratively to plan and facilitate ELA professional development
  • Support the implementation of district and school-wide literacy strategies
  • Provide resources to support school and district strategic plans related to literacy by:
  • coordinating efforts of the Literacy and ELD teams
  • supporting efforts to build literacy across the curriculum at school sites
  • providing guidance and professional development to literacy leads at each school and ensure sustainability of literacy strategic plans
  • attending district professional development and collaboration, serving as liaison between the home office and campus leadership teams
  • In conjunction with Director of Literacy and ELD Programs, Coordinators of ELD Programs, Special Education Program Specialists, other Curriculum Specialists, and school site leaders support programming and MTSS support for students based on need
  • Engage in other duties relevant to the successful implementation of the Green Dot ELA and ELD Programs

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • > Work Hours: This position requires consistent attendance during scheduled hours, as flexibility is limited by classroom or operational requirements.

  • > Physical Requirements: The position may require certain physical abilities, such as interacting with students, or moving through various parts of the school.
  • > Social Requirements: The position requires extensive interaction with students, colleagues, and members of the public.
  • > On-Site Presence: This role requires regular, in-person attendance to meet the needs of students, staff, and the school environment. Remote work/telecommuting is generally not an option.

COMPENSATION

Salary for this position is $82,000 - $92,000, depending on experience. Opportunities for salary growth are available over time; however, offers near the upper end of the salary range are uncommon. Individual education and experience will be considered when issuing offers.
