Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company is seeking a liquor store cashier to provide efficient checkout services, assist customers, and maintain stock and product displays in accordance with company standards.

You will monitor deliveries, handle cash, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws on restricted items. The role requires flexible scheduling, strong customer service, and teamwork within the store environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• TABC/LACT/AATC certification required where applicable.
• On-the-job training provided.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Basic cash handling and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate checkout and ensure accurate totals.
• Maintain stock on display and ensure dated products are rotated.
• Assist customers with product location and inquiries.
• Adhere to laws regarding tobacco, alcohol, lottery and cannabis-related products.

Ensures products are displayed in accordance with Company standards. Performs various customer service duties and promotes sales building practices.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Accountable for adhering to all local, state, and federal laws regarding sales of restricted items such as tobacco, alcohol, lottery, and cannabis-based products.Ensures accurate checkout totals for customers by properly scanning and keying items. Maintains accurate money count in register at all times.Maintains full stock conditions on display racks and shelves. Ensures dated product is stocked, rotated, or discarded properly if unsold.Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.Remains current on tender policies and procedures related to checks, credit, debit, AML, etc.Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting customers with product location or availability.Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.Operates pallet jack to unload product from warehouse trucks and reloads trucks with return items.Promotes product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Basic knowledge and compliance of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable.Basic knowledge of cash register.Basic knowledge of tender policies and procedures.Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with customers and partners.Ability to count and calculate for the purpose of cash handling and sales transactions.Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team atmosphere.Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.Education, Experience and Qualifications:Minimum of 21 years of age required.Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.TABC/LACT/AATC certification required where applicable.Typically involves on-the-job training.Physical Demands:Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.Continuously required to stand or walk.Frequently required to talk and hear.Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.Frequently required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.Occasionally required to bend, kneel or squat.Attendance at work is required.Work Context and Environment:Work is generally performed in a liquor store.Occasionally exposed to wet, slippery or damp conditions.Occasionally exposed to cleaning agents.Quiet to moderate noise level.Ready to find your place?
