Job summary

Zap Energy is seeking a Liquid Metals Engineer to support the Zap Micro Reactor (ZMR) program. You will be part of an integrated product team delivering a liquid metal‑cooled fission reactor.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
  • At least 2 years of design, procurement, assembly, safe operation and analysis of first‑of‑a‑kind testing equipment.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the full development lifecycle of liquid metal systems (design, build, test, troubleshoot, operate).
  • Identify practical design solutions considering manufacturing, quality, and licensing constraints.
  • Evaluate codes/standards (e.g., ASME BPVC) and optimize testing activities for confidence.
  • Act as technical contact through procurement; write high‑quality documentation.
  • Collaborate across design, testing and integration teams to keep safety and design bases aligned.
  • Support supplier collaboration and perform work within a graded QA program.
