Job summary

Nightwing seeks a Junior Linux Systems & Logistics Support Specialist for a hybrid onsite role to support Linux-based IT operations and logistics workflows. The position combines hands-on IT tasks with asset handling and inventory management, requiring collaboration across teams and adherence to security guidelines.

The role emphasizes Linux administration, basic scripting, equipment movement, and safe handling of materials. A TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required for the program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems across user workspaces.
• Perform Tier 1 Linux administration including user management, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Support and resolve break/fix issues on Linux systems in person and remotely.
• Assist with basic automation/scripting tasks (Bash) to improve efficiency.
• Assist with local network connectivity and equipment setup as needed.
• Respond promptly to support requests and incidents, ensuring timely resolution.
• Support receipt, storage, tagging, and transportation of IT equipment and materials.
• Maintain inventory records and perform counts to prevent damage and loss.
• Tag, track, and update inventory management systems for accuracy.
• Physically move and stage equipment within the facility.
• Follow safety and handling procedures for materials (incl. hazardous materials when required).
• Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Linux Systems & Logistics Support Specialist (Junior) Location: Onsite. Nightwing is seeking a junior Linux Systems & Logistics Support Specialist to join a dynamic, fast-paced program supporting a wide range of quick-reaction requirements. This hybrid role combines hands-on Linux-based IT support with local logistics operations, requiring a versatile professional who can seamlessly transition between supporting Linux systems and managing the receipt, storage, tagging, and movement of technology assets and materials. The selected candidate will provide local IT support for primarily Linux-based systems while also supporting logistics operations including inventory management, asset tagging, shipping/receiving, and materials handling. Working as part of a collaborative team, this role ensures efficient operations that support mission-critical activities. Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Polygraph (active).

Linux IT & Systems Support

• Perform Tier 1 system administration for Linux environments, including basic user management, patching, and troubleshooting
• Support and resolve break/fix issues on Linux systems both in person and remotely

Logistics & Operations

• Support the receipt, storage, tagging, and transportation of IT equipment, goods, and materials, including packing, shipping, and receiving functions for technology assets
• Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records to prevent damage and loss
• Tag, track, and update inventory management systems to ensure accurate stock records and material accountability
• Physically move and stage equipment within the facility
• Follow established procedures for the safe handling and storage of materials, including hazardous materials when required
• Support process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, productivity, and accuracy

Cross-Functional Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders to determine IT and logistics needs for meetings, projects, and deployments
• Support facility safety requirements and report potential hazards
• Follow security guidelines related to material handling, equipment movement, and IT asset management

• Familiarity with Cisco network switches, routers, and firewalls.

Education/Certification Requirements

College degree preferred, or high school diploma plus some advanced training.

• Current or in-progress certification in at least one of the following areas preferred:
• CompTIA Linux+, A+, Network+, or Security+
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux certification

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($64,000-$128,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
