Job summary

BIT, LLC is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical identity and access management system in Chantilly, VA. The role involves lifecycle systems engineering, collaborating with development and operations, and recommending solutions to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• BS degree with 2–4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Proactive self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS (S3, EC2, Reserved Instances).
• Experience troubleshooting network-related issues (OSI layers 4–7).
• Familiar with System Engineering documentation (network diagrams, data flows).
• Experience with Agile Team Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
• Strong Linux background and infrastructure management practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier II support for customer-facing issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and communicate findings.
• Review system health and implement proactive measures for availability.
• Develop scripts and automation for operational tasks.
• Manage COTS and GOTS software across environments.
• Ensure compliance with security services and applications.
• Interface with customers and external teams to diagnose access issues.
• Identify bottlenecks through system workflow visualization.
