Job summary

Vantor is seeking a cleared Systems Engineer to support a High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment in Herndon, VA. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of Linux admins, DevOps and systems engineers to sustain compute, network and storage infrastructure for advanced GPUs and data analytics.

You will work on enterprise network design, documentation, and tech support, building scalable solutions for mission-critical workloads with tight security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Linux-heavy system administration or systems engineering.
  • Experience supporting DevOps infrastructure and LAN/WAN networks.
  • Experience implementing DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with physical compute and networking hardware.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and propose solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and sustain Linux operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Assist in design and provisioning of the enterprise network environment.
  • Prepare and deliver program and user documentation for system operations.
  • Provide technical systems support for project activities.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Communicate with team leads and share expertise across boundaries.
  • Work independently and in small groups.

In support of this mission, Vantor is seeking a cleared Systems Engineer who is looking for an incredible challenge. We are building a High‑Performance Computing (HPC) environment to provide full lifecycle support of compute, network, and storage infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate in a multitalented team in support of the environments, support, sustainment, and growth activities. You will work with a dynamic team consisting of Linux Administrators, DevOps & Infrastructure Engineers, Systems Engineers to support computational design elements of high‑performing Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and harnessing that power to feed into the new Platform. Location: Herndon, VA

The Systems Engineer will:

  • Install, configure, and sustain Linux operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Assist in the design and provisioning of the enterprise network environment.
  • Prepare and deliver both program and user level documentation for system operations.
  • Provide technical systems support for project activities.
  • Monitor for performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Interact with members of the technical team leads.
  • Understand the current system, subsystems, and component specifications and be able to use experience to recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.
  • Communicate and share expertise within and across the client’s organizational boundaries.
  • Work both independently and in small groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in network engineering, information systems, computer engineering, or related technical field.
  • Relevant professional experience can substitute in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the following technical areas: System Administration or systems engineering in a Linux-heavy environment.
  • Experience supporting DevOps Infrastructure
  • Experience in the build, operations, and sustainment of LAN/WAN networks
  • Experience Implementing DOD Cyber Security requirements.
  • Experience with physical compute and networking hardware
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and evaluating alternatives to solve complex problems.

Nice To Have:

  • Exposure to Infiband networks and configuration
  • Experience with Juniper Network and Security Platforms
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the above technical qualifications

Pay Transparency:

  • The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $95,000.00 - $127,000.00 - $139,700.00 annually.
