Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a seasoned engineer to deploy and administer Linux environments, automate builds, and ensure secure configurations. The role includes installation, fault isolation, backups, and user support across tactical and enterprise settings.

Required are 5+ years in deployment/administration, scripting in Python/Ansible, and experience with SCM tools. Travel and U.S. citizenship are expected for handling sensitive workloads.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or STEM field.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or STEM related field
• Minimum of 5 years related professional experience, with at least two years in deployment/administration of a Linux Operating Environment (preferably Red Hat)
• Systems Engineering experience working in any of the following areas; tactical environments, network operations, user account creation and management, security OS patching as well as security auditing
• Experience with coding / scripting / automation / orchestration platforms (such as Python, Ansible, and bash)
• Configuration management and change management experience using tools such as Git, ClearCase, and ClearQuest
• CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain
• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level
• Requires U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to Travel

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting ship network/operating environment installations and checkouts
• Advanced technical certification(s) such as Linux+ or RHCSA
• Knowledge of RMF Compliance and familiarity with DISA STIG's
• Experience with Rational ClearCase tools supporting the software configuration management (SCM) processes
• Demonstrated expertise in deploying, configuring, and maintaining RedHat Enterprise Linux across multiple major releases (6,8, and10), including system administration, package management, kernel tuning, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
• Understanding of designing, provisioning, and managing scalable cloud-based infrastructure services (compute, storage, networking) using IaaS solutions, with a focus on automation, cost optimization, and adherence to service-level agreements
• Proficiency in scripting for automation, data parsing, system orchestration, and development of custom utilities, with an emphasis on writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Strong command of Git for source-code management, including branching strategies, merge workflows, repository maintenance, and collaboration practices that ensure code integrity and traceability across development teams
• Knowledge of Ansible for orchestrating complex deployments, writing reusable playbooks, managing inventories, and implementing idempotent configuration-as-code practices to accelerate provisioning and ensure consistent environments
• Experience with VMware ESXi installation, configuration, and administration, as well as integration with vCenter, virtual networking, storage provisioning, and performance monitoring within virtualized data-center environments
• CompTIA Security+ Certification: Comprehensive understanding of foundational cybersecurity principles, including network security, risk management, threat analysis, cryptographic concepts, and best practices for securing systems and data in accordance with industry standards
