Job summary

Scientific Research Corporation is seeking a security-focused systems engineer to support Navy weather radar IT infrastructure, patching STIGs, and RMF implementations at U.S. government sites.

Candidates will maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, manage ACAS, eMASS, SCAP, and perform system administration tasks, with less than 25% travel.

Requires U.S. citizenship and interim secret clearance with secret eligibility; bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in cybersecurity or systems engineering.
  • Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux and STIG experience.
  • Experience with ACAS, eMASS, SCAP, RMF and DoD networks (ONE-Net/NMCI).
  • Ability to write Bash scripts and manage lab networks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration for DoD networked systems.
  • Apply STIGs and patch management across Linux environments.
  • Maintain security documentation and C&A packages.
  • Support RMF, ATOs, and FISMA compliance.
  • Deliver contractual artifacts on time.

Job description

Description
  • Providing systems integration, information assurance engineering and management to the Navy’s AN/FPS-131A supplemental weather radar

  • Maintaining VRAM/IAVA compliance, ACAS scanning, STIG implementation
  • Ensuring MDE compliance
  • Developing architecture for application deployment to global SWR installations
  • Developing documentation for submission of C&A packages for multiple ATOs
  • Updating and implementing configuration management plan / system
  • Updating and implementing patch management plan / system
  • Providing data for COI application process for regional, theater and local NOSCs
  • Supporting upstream systems integration (ONEnet) efforts
  • Performing operational system administration tasks
  • Applying STIGs
  • Supporting FISMA audits and renewals annually
  • Delivering required contractual deliverables on time

Requirements
  • Strong experience and understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux methodologies to apply patches and required implementing Security Technical Implementations (STIG)
  • Strong software integration abilities to adjust OEM software settings to resolve conflicts when STIGS are applied
  • Ability to write/edit/maintain basic bash scripts for remote updates, graceful shutdown
  • Working knowledge of various database software including MariaDB, Postgresql and/or MySQL
  • Ability to maintain a small lab network consisting of several switches, Red Hat systems with many interfaces and internal routing and multiple VLANS
  • Self-starter who can progress program with minimal supervision
