Job summary

Johnson Controls in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced software engineer to contribute to PACS feature development and firmware on Linux/Zephyr, with hands-on work across Linux tooling and embedded targets.

Join a collaborative team, develop device drivers and kernel components, and help drive product improvements while delivering robust, secure software that supports global buildings.

BS/MS in CS and 2–6 years of relevant experience are expected.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of Linux/Zephyr software development experience.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on contributions to PACS feature development and field support.
• Direct contribution to firmware development using Linux and Zephyr OS and help others less familiar with area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Hands-on contributions to Physical Access Control System (PACS) feature development and field support.

• Direct contribution to Firmware development using Linux and Zephyr OS and help others less familiar with area.

• Drive both improvement and innovation of the Products.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and development experience of working with Linux, Zephyr

• Knowledge and development experience of modifying and updating Buildroot, U-Boot, kernel and device driver, device tree.

• Knowledge and development experience of C/C++ development on Linux/Zephyr.

• Knowledge and development experience of board bring-up and diagnostics.

• Strong teamworking and communication skills.

• Development experience with Bluetooth, Motor controller and other cyber security technology is a plus.

Education and Experience:

• 2 - 6 years of solid experience in software engineering, with significant experience in Linux/Zephyr software development.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience is required.

SALARY RANGE

$86,000 - $100,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
