Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS in McLean, VA is seeking a Linux Administrator to maintain DoD STIG-compliant images, support Tier II environments, and manage security remediation for AWS GovCloud and on-premises systems.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's in CS, 3+ years Linux/UNIX admin experience (RHEL, Solaris), and DoD clearance or better, with CompTIA Security+ certification. US-based applicants only.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of Linux/UNIX (RHEL, Solaris) administration experience.
• DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain DoD STIG compliant images.
• Provide Tier II engineering, development, testing, and production environment support.
• Manage full life cycle of AWS GovCloud and on-premises systems.
• Review and tune system performance for mission systems.
• Monitor environments to meet customer requirements.
• Coordinate problem resolution with customers, teammates, and vendors.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to system software/hardware.
• Provide project status to management.
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity vulnerability mitigations.
• Perform interface administration (sFTP, SFG, shell scripting).
• Support maintenance and administrative scripting (Shell, Perl).

Linux Administrator

Location: US-VA-McLean

Position Type: Full-Time

Clearance Required: Secret

Responsibilities

• Maintain DoD STIG Compliant images


• Provide Tier II engineering, development, testing, and production environment support


• Responsible for full Life Cycle support of AWS GovCloud and On-Premised hosted Systems/Applications.


• Review, evaluate, and fine-tunes system performance for Mission Systems/Applications.


• Monitor the environment to ensure they meet customer requirements.


• Coordinate problem resolution with customers, teammates, and vendors.


• Evaluate new and existing system software/hardware and recommends changes.


• Provide management with status of project.


• Implement, monitor, and maintain Cybersecurity compliance vulnerability mitigations.


• Perform interface Administration, including sFTP, SFG, shell scripting, etc.


• Support maintenance and administrative scripting (Shell, Perl, etc.)

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $82,000.00/Yr. - USD $130,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
