Job summary

Matlen Silver in Charlotte, NC seeks a hands-on Linux Platform Engineer to support enterprise Linux platforms and NoSQL databases. This operations-focused role involves logging into servers, troubleshooting, maintaining systems, and coordinating with vendors to resolve production issues.

The ideal candidate will have strong Linux engineering experience, hands-on NoSQL knowledge (Cassandra, SingleStore, MongoDB), and experience with Jira for incident tracking and operational support.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting NoSQL databases, preferably Cassandra, SingleStore, MongoDB.
• Experience logging into Linux servers, troubleshooting system/platform issues, and implementing fixes.
• Experience supporting and maintaining production platforms and underlying database technologies.
• Experience working with vendors to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Experience supporting similar enterprise infrastructure/platform environments.
• Experience using Jira for ticketing, issue tracking, and operational support.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on operational support and maintenance for Linux-based platforms.
• Support the underlying NoSQL database infrastructure and troubleshoot database/platform issues.
• Investigate production incidents by reviewing system behavior, logs, configurations, and infrastructure.
• Log into servers directly to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Partner with database, infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to resolve complex problems.
• Work with vendors to identify root causes and implement recommended solutions.
• Perform platform maintenance, upgrades, enhancements, and operational changes.
• Manage incidents, service requests, and technical tasks through Jira.
• Help maintain platform stability, availability, and performance.
• Contribute to automation and operational improvements where applicable.

Job Title: Linux Admin/Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC

Rate: $62-$65/hour W2

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Linux Platform Engineer to support and maintain enterprise Linux platforms and the underlying NoSQL database technologies. This is an operations-focused role, not an architecture or design position. The ideal candidate will spend the majority of their time working directly on the platform—logging into servers, troubleshooting issues, maintaining systems, coordinating with vendors, and resolving production issues.

Required Skills / Must-Haves
