The Linen Service Attendant performs all activities related to the retrieval of soiled linen, processing of linen, and distribution of clean linen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are the general responsibilities of this position. They are not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned:

  1. Provide courteous customer service to all individuals while performing linen duties.
  2. Answer telephone calls efficiently and courteously within 5 rings.
  3. Respond promptly to emergency requests.
  4. Respond to walk-in and telephone requests, providing or sending items as needed.
  5. Deliver and pick up linen with courteous service.
  6. Operate computer-controlled washers, dryers, spreaders, flatwork ironers, and folders according to operational and safety procedures.
  7. Adjust equipment settings within proper operating parameters and report malfunctions to supervision.
  8. Retrieve soiled linen and transport it from designated areas on a set schedule.
  9. Deliver linen carts or requisitioned linen to designated areas.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized laundry area.
  11. Inventory and record linen orders and deliveries, including offsite shipments.
  12. Operate hand-held computers for inventory management and restocking linen exchange carts.
  13. Log all linen issues and operate computers for educational requirements via Net Learning.
  14. Assist in training new employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand, walk, and handle linens for prolonged periods; lift up to 50 pounds; push carts weighing up to 600 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments, performing repetitive tasks as directed.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Skills in operating computerized laundry equipment and math skills for inventory and cart stocking are preferred.
