Job summary

Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is seeking an Apprentice Lineman who wants an exciting work atmosphere and to be a part of a team dedicated to exceptional service. The role offers hands-on training under supervision and a clear pathway through the Association’s Standards of Apprenticeship.

Under supervision, the apprentice will construct underground and overhead lines, maintain the electric system, climb poles, operate heavy equipment, perform switching, read PVREA service maps,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited line worker training school or 2 years of related electric utility experience.
• First aid/CPR certification required within 90 days of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Construct underground and overhead transmission and distribution lines.
• Maintain underground and overhead distribution and transmission systems.
• Climb poles for insulator changes and transformer installation.
• Operate heavy equipment such as digger trucks and bucket trucks.
• Perform switching procedures with hot sticks/handles to transfer load or isolate line.
• Read PVREA service maps and coordinate changes with Operations.
