Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Train with experienced crews to learn fiber installation and OSHA requirements.
  • Load/unload materials at yards and jobsites.
  • Lead by example and enforce safety rules.
  • Perform on-the-job training with Foreman to grow skills.
  • Identify hazards using the pre-task process.

POSITION TITLE: Lineman
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

ADB is seeking a Lineman to join our wireline aerial team and provide proficient manual laborer, cable placement, andequipment operations. This position will provide aerial installation of fiber optic cable for various telecommunicationprojects. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides mid-level aerial installation functions that could include hand digging with a shovel, setting up trafficcontrol, entry level equipment operations, placing fiber, climbing poles, loading materials, etc. on varioussafety sensitive utility construction sites
  • Proficient with utility print and map reading
  • Has performed at least 2 years of independent aerial cable placement and installation; knows all safetyregulations with basic operating skills
  • Climbs utility poles and/or utilizes lift to place cable in adherence to print designs and maps
  • Supports the setup and shut down of utility construction projects including traffic control in various conditionsincluding highways, side streets, parking lots, downtown locations, etc.
  • Safety is the expectation, always follows the required safety practices while performing safety sensitive duties
  • Trains alongside experience construction crews learning fiber installation, print reading, equipmentoperations, OSHA requirements, etc.
  • Loads and unloads materials and equipment in from vehicles at construction yards and jobsites
  • Acts as right hand to the Foreman, leads by example, ensures safety rules/regulations are followed, and canlead other’s on jobsites
  • Performs OTJ training to with Foreman and/or Senior Foreman to grow and development technical andleadership skills
  • Assists in identifying hazards by utilizing the pre-task process
  • Performs other position duties when requested

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
  • Regular exposure to all weather conditions include hot, humid, cold, rain, snow, ice, etc.
  • When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safetyglasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 2+ year of lineman experience within the telecommunications industry required
  • Formalized training/Lineman certification required from accredited tech school required
  • 6 months OTJ training and 1 year of Lineman experience required if no formal education
  • Valid driver license with a clean driving record required
  • CDL License (or the ability to obtain) required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
