Job summary

SYRACUSE UTILITIES LLC is seeking a skilled lineman to support its communications and utility operations. The role installs, splices, maintains, and repairs fiber optic and coax systems, handling overhead and underground work in line with safety and engineering standards.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required at hire or within 90 days.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug test, background check, and medical evaluation.
  • 3 years of experience in utilities, telecommunications, civil construction, or related field (preferred).
  • Pole-Top & Bucket Truck Rescue; Digger Derrick Qualification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate bucket trucks, man-lifts, boom trucks, and other construction equipment.
  • Install strand, crossarms, conductors, hardware, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Place, sag, splice, transfer, and secure fiber optic and coaxial cables using standard tools.
  • Perform overhead and underground work, including conduit installation, vault work, and pole setting.
  • Climb wood poles and steel towers with approved climbing and fall protection equipment.
  • Install, maintain, inspect, and repair lines, poles, transformers, switches, meters, and related equipment.
  • Perform line switching, sectionalizing, emergency repairs, load checks, and feeder balancing.
  • Track and communicate daily production, materials usage, and job progress.
  • Drive to and from job sites; lift up to 50 pounds; perform manual labor.
  • Comply with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
