Job summary

Perry’s Ice Cream is seeking a driver to join the transportation team. The role involves line haul duties to multiple Midwest/East Coast locations, working Sunday through Thursday evenings, and occasional overnight travel with a team of drivers and warehouse staff.

The position requires a valid Class A license, clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Safety, reliability, and strong map-reading skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A License and clean driving record required.
• Doubles Certification preferred; training/certification will be provided for experienced drivers.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 75 lbs., work in cold environments (-10º to -20ºF) and drive long hours.

Responsibilities

• Line haul products to destinations across PA, NY, OH and surrounding areas.
• Collaborate with delivery drivers, line haul assistants, and warehouse teams.
• Work Sunday–Thursday evenings (≈4pm–8pm) with occasional holiday shifts and overnight travel.
• Maintain truck and cab cleanliness; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Work as part of a team to transfer product to distribution trucks.

Job description

Overview

The regular work schedule is Sunday - Thursday, start times could vary (2nd and 3rd shift blend). Pay starts at $23/hour for training, then $24/hour after training (training could be as little as few weeks), pay could vary depending on experience. Advancement up tp $29/hour.

About the Role:

As a core member of our transportation team, you will be expected to:

• Work independently to line haul products primarily to to Erie, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Syracuse, NY; Elmira, NY; Toledo,OH; Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH; or Cleveland, OH.
• Work with dynamic teams, including: delivery drivers, line haul assistants, and warehouse teams.
• Typically work Sunday thru Thursday evenings leaving approximately between 4pm & 8pm. This may include working on the evening of some holidays. Some locations require leaving earlier in the day.
• Flexability to travel overnight for some locations.
• Work as part of a team with a line haul assistant transfer product to distribution truck.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Class A License with clean driving record;
• Doubles Certification preferred - (will facilitate doubles training/certification for an experienced driver);
• Physical ability to consistently and repetitively: lift & carry up to 75 lbs., bend, twist, climb, push & pull a store dolly with up to 500 lbs. of product, and ability to work in a cold environment of -10º to -20ºF;
• Maintain cleanliness of truck and truck cab;
• Flexibility to work irregular schedule, including holidays and weekends, if needed;
• Ability to stay overnight in a sleeper cab;
• Accountability to exercise safe behavior;
• Commitment to work as part of a team;
• Good written, verbal, communication, & map reading skills.
