Job summary

Dig Inn in Washington, DC is hiring for kitchen roles with a starting pay of $18.50+ per hour, plus $2-3 per hour in tips and additional benefits. You will train in a scratch-based kitchen, grow leadership skills, and work in a fast-paced culinary environment focused on real good food.

You will rotate through multiple kitchen stations, assist during peak times, and help maintain high food-safety standards while upholding DIG values.

Qualifications

  • Passion for real, good food and willingness to learn culinary practices.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements (lift up to 25 lb, up to 50 lb occasionally).
  • Team-oriented mindset and collaboration with restaurant staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prep, mix, and cook vegetables, proteins, grains using recipes and taste as validation.
  • Gain exposure to multiple kitchen stations including garde mange, grill, roast, market line, guest concierge and delivery/packout.
  • Describe menu offerings, seasonality, and ingredients to guests to create a satisfying scratch-made meal.
  • Support the team during peak and off-peak service; pitch in wherever needed.
  • Multi-task and move in the kitchen; physical requirements may require accommodations.
  • Maintain food safety standards per department and DIG policies.

The next generation of chefs are evolving in DIG restaurants.

YOU WILL
  • Prep, mix, and cook vegetables, proteins, grains etc using recipes as a guide and taste buds for validation.
  • Gain exposure to different stations within the DIG kitchen including but not limited to garde manger, grill, roast, market line, guest concierge and delivery/packout.
  • Speak to current menu offerings, seasonality, and ingredients with guests - making their day as you provide them with a delicious scratch-made meal (aka: marketbowl).
  • Work to support the team during peak and off peak service, by pitching in wherever and whenever necessary.
  • Multi-task and move in the kitchen for extended periods of time. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Help to maintain the “A” lettergrade by following Department of Health and DIG food safety standards.
