Job summary

CU Hawaii is hiring a Cook for the Fort Ruger location in Honolulu to prepare, cook, and plate breakfast, lunch, and dinner items including poke bowls. The role involves working under the Sous Chef across line, prep, and fish-cutting stations to ensure fast, consistent, and recipe-compliant output for take-out orders.

The full-time position requires shifting early mornings with flexibility for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of line cook or kitchen experience preferred.
• Experience breaking down and portioning raw fish for poke or sushi is strongly preferred.
• Proficient knife skills and knowledge of safe fish handling and temperature control.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items (bentos, musubis, poke bowls) to recipe standards.
• Cook and plate orders during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service between 6:00 AM–8:00 PM.
• Assist take-out counter and ensure orders are packaged promptly and accurately.
• Maintain high levels of food quality, freshness, and safety throughout service.
