Job summary

Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg is seeking a line cook to support a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. You will learn the facility’s outlets, read and prepare orders to established recipes, and ensure consistency and quality of all dishes.

The role requires strong English communication, teamwork, and a solid understanding of sanitation practices. Starting pay is $11.50 per hour, based on experience, with benefits varying by position.

Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to work collaboratively with team members at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of food items to standard in a high-volume operation.
• Knowledge of sanitation procedures and safe food handling.
• Ability to read recipes and follow precise measurements.

Responsibilities

• Learn and be familiar with the facility’s room outlets and answer general questions about the property.
• Read food orders and prepare items according to established menu plans.
• Prepare all food items according to recipes to ensure consistency.
• Wash, slice, peel, and cut foods for cooking or serving.
• Monitor cooking for doneness and maintain quality standards.
• Coordinate with dining room staff and communicate orders.
• Complete prep items as listed on prep sheets.
• Maintain equipment and work areas in a sanitary, safe condition.
• Adhere to Health Department regulations for food handling and cleanliness.
• Attend training and complete side duties as assigned.
