Job summary

BLACK BEAR DINER HAYWARD is seeking a dedicated line cook to support all kitchen stations and ensure timely preparation of breakfast and other menu items. You will be responsible for reading orders accurately, maintaining proper temperatures, and upholding strict hygiene standards throughout the shift.

The role requires punctuality, proper uniform, and the ability to work under the pace of a busy restaurant. Overtime may be required to cover peak periods and ensure service excellence.

Qualifications

• Be punctual to begin your work.
• Wear proper uniform (black pants, Black Bear Diner Tee-shirt, hat and black slip-proof shoes).
• Maintain neat appearance; facial hair trimmed, nails clean and trimmed.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to avoid cross contamination.
• All hot items cooked to proper temperatures; cold items prepared correctly.
• Read orders correctly to ensure plates are complete before serving.
• Kitchen must be clean, floors free of debris, and stations stocked.

Responsibilities

• Cook breakfast and regular menu items; eggs cooked to order.
• Monitor temperatures and proper cooking procedures across kitchen stations.
• Ensure orders are ready to be served and match tickets before exiting window.
• Deep clean kitchen line at end of shift; keep equipment clean and safe.
• Adhere to hygiene standards; wash hands after handling raw meat and use towels to dry hands.
• Take breaks on time and be prepared to work overtime if needed.
