Promises/Washburn House in Worcester, MA is hiring a Cook to join our team. The position offers pay from $18 to $21 per hour and a Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule from 10am to 6:30pm (off on Thursday & Wednesday).

The Cook will prepare and serve meals to clients in our behavioral health facility, maintain sanitation, and follow HACCP guidelines. A high school diploma is required, with preference for two years in healthcare food services.

Position Summary

The Cookprepares and serves quality meals to clients in our mental health,rehabilitationor treatment facilities, while adhering to dietary needs.Additionally, the Cookmaintainssanitation protocols, proper food storage, and cleanliness of kitchen equipment and storage areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Intermediate level of culinary equipment operation skills required
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to food preparation and storage, use of kitchen utensils, and clean up materials used in a kitchen
• Ability to identify the needs/concerns of clients, and determine potential solutions, resolve, or redirect as appropriate is required
• Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information such as client care, medical‑related information, or finances is required
• Intermediate oral/written communication and decision‑making skills required
• Basic understanding of addiction/recovery and/or willingness to learn, required

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

• Preferably two years' experience in food service.
• Healthcare food services preferred.
• CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.
