Job summary

Freedom Village Bradenton is seeking a Healthcare Line Cook to prepare food per standardized recipes and support daily meal service in a senior living setting. The role requires adherence to recipes, food safety standards, and efficient kitchen operation to ensure quality, temperature, and presentation.

You will work in a three-dining room setup with rotating menus and shifts starting mid-morning. Expected shifts are from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm, with additional early- morning coverage availability.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Knowledge of batch cooking and following standardized recipes.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of food safety, handling and storage experience.
• Scratch cooking experience.
• Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
• Ability to plan and organize work and interpret recipes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces; boils, braises, and roasts items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepares and serves all sauteed, fried, grilled, steamed, and baked items as per standardized recipes.
• Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, ensuring excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food.
• Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and procures from storage areas.
• Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

The Healthcare Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes.

• Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
• Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
