Job summary

Baxters North America in East Bernstadt, KY is seeking a Line Associate – Assembly to support production by assembling components for meals and accessory packaging.

You will follow work instructions, maintain line speeds, inspect packages, and assist QA and final assembly to ensure quality products reach customers. This role requires attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks in a factory setting. High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Verify correct product names, codes, and dates are used; then placed on current menu.
  • Assist in on-line visual inspection to prevent defects.
  • Inspect for leaks and broken packages.
  • Prior to assembly, ensure all components of the accessory packs are accounted for.
  • Maintain line speeds with repetitive gripping, grabbing and placing items into bags, boxes, etc.
  • Stack items and insert on menu bag using the correct order.
  • Ensure all menu items, accessories, and components are assembled according to menu specifications.
  • Prepare menu bags for sealing and boxing.
  • Receive menu bags to inspect for correct placing of products and codes.
  • Verify correct menu bag to ensure proper codes and dates are used.
  • Place bags through sealing machine and inspect seals.
  • Inspect proper sealing and look for defects on seals.
  • Receive assembled and sealed menu bags then place them in proper container.
  • Inspect seal on bagging and product for breaks or leaks.
  • Insert correct menu bags in container and move to final assembly.
  • Assist QA, MPC and Final Assembly with delivery of items to be inspected.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) equivalent preferred.

Essential Functions
Product inspections
  • Verify correct product names, codes, and dates are used; then placed on current menu.
  • To prevent defects the employee will assist in the on-line visual inspection.
  • Inspect for leaks and broken packages.
  • Prior to assembly, ensure all components of the accessory packs are accounted for.
Assembling of product

The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and potential exposure to sulphuric acid (electric battery), potential exposure to carbon monoxide from propane fueled forklift. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
