Job summary

The Simplot Company, located at the GF Plant in Grand Forks, North Dakota, is seeking a Cutter Deck Operator to join our manufacturing team. The role requires crossing between Line 1 and Line 4 Cutter duties and strict adherence to safety, SOPs, and company policies.

Responsibilities include maintaining line flow, equipment sanitation, and data entry in MMS/WonderWare, while completing training and contributing to process improvements. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English to perform duties.
  • Must complete Job Skill Evaluation and Structured Job Training within required timeframe.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work around hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and navigate tight spaces.
  • Must be able to use a computer and perform data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Cutter Deck Operators must cross train between Line 1 and Line 4 Cutter duties.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies to prevent injuries.
  • Attend and participate in all training activities; apply learned skills.
  • Sanitize equipment and maintain facility housekeeping.
  • Record and retrieve information in MMS and WonderWare as required.
  • Perform cut changes per customer and company specifications.

Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Cutter Deck Operators are required to cross train between Line 1 and Line 4 Cutter duties.
  • Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
  • Attend and participate in all training activities for the position. Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
  • Ensures sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures that personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions while representing the Company.
  • Ensures that equipment in assigned area of unit operations is monitored and maintained.
  • Ensures that line flow is monitored and maintained.
  • Ensures that necessary level of communication is maintained with team members and support groups regarding line conditions.
  • Ensures that appropriate information is entered into and extracted from MMS and WonderWare.
  • Ensures that cut changes are performed as needed and per customer and company specifications.
Typical Education

High School Diploma or GED

Relevant Experience
  • Must have successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation to begin training in the position. Must complete the Structured Job Training program within recommended timeframe to remain in the position permanently.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (i.e., GRL spindles).
  • Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.
  • Must be able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications. Must be proficient at computer system data entry.
  • Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery).
  • Must be able to identify hazards and report to appropriate personnel.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to push/pull a minimum of 100 pounds (i.e., waste barrel).
