Job Description

AFC Urgent Care of Longmont is seeking a highly motivated X-ray Technician (LSRT/RT) for a full‑time position. This role also includes medical assisting tasks. The ideal candidate will be assertive, proactive, and eager to expand their medical knowledge. Candidates must be able to work a 12‑hour shift and be willing to serve approximately four weekend days per month in a fast‑paced environment as a team player. The ability to multitask is essential. Responsibilities are outlined below.

Xray Duties
  • Greet patients and ensure all jewelry and metal objects are removed, that appropriate gowns are worn, and that the patient is not pregnant.
  • Prepare and position the patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified body area as requested by the provider.
  • Explain procedures to reduce patient anxieties and obtain cooperation.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Maintain a neat and clean working environment and ensure all supplies are ordered and stocked.
  • Process images and review them for proper identification and quality control.
  • Utilize both digital and non‑digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and AFC policies.
  • Prepare images for reading by provider and contact additional providers if a second opinion is required.
  • Aid provider with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging repairs as needed.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Medical Assistant Duties
  • Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment and examination.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved techniques.
  • Maintain awareness of patient comfort and needs.
  • Properly start lab equipment daily; perform maintenance as scheduled.
  • Maintain daily log; document all requests and lab results accurately.
  • Draw blood from patient’s finger or vein, observing aseptic principles.
  • Perform laboratory tests per written instructions.
  • Administer IV fluids to patients (training provided if not certified).
  • Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines.
  • Order and stock supplies weekly.
  • Respond to all lab messages and callback requests; share responsibility of callback sheets.
  • Utilize lab software and equipment per proper procedure and instruction.
  • Collect specimens using approved equipment, sequence, and procedure.
  • Observe patient, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisor or provider of patient’s condition.
  • Respond to life‑saving situations based on standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Perform all drug screening procedures per established rules and regulations.
  • Ensure patient immunizations are appropriate, well documented, and administered correctly.
  • Conduct provider referrals and service pre‑certifications as needed.
  • Document past medical history of patients.
  • Rotate among clinical services such as lab, medical assistant, and front desk.
  • Prepare rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
  • Ensure work area is neat, clean, fully stocked, and all laundry items are laundered and put away.
  • Manage difficult and emotional customer situations with customer‑service emphasis.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions to management.
  • Respond to all patient messages; document conversations in the electronic medical records system; assist with patient discharge duties and share callback sheets.
  • Regular attendance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
