Job summary

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is seeking a Lighting Technician for the KÀ production in Las Vegas. The role focuses on safe setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting systems, with responsibilities for follow-spot cues, cue track documentation, and on-going equipment care during rehearsals and performances.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of professional lighting experience, basic electronics knowledge, and the ability to work under pressure within a team environment.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience as a professional Lighting Technician or equivalent training.
• Basic knowledge of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Understanding of AC/DC electricity and basic electronics.
• Proficient with computer operations as related to lighting systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; AutoCAD is an asset.
• Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including crouching, kneeling, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.
• Right to work in the United States (Form I-9 compliance).

Responsibilities

• Learn and run follow spot/deck cue tracks as directed by leadership for performances and training.
• Ensure safe setup, use and maintenance of lighting systems and equipment during performances, rehearsals and training.
• Record and maintain cue track documentation and maintenance logs.
• Assist with inventory and ensure equipment and supplies are stocked for production needs.
• Update maintenance and inspection records to comply with Cirque du Soleil policies.
• Participate in cross-training to support console operators and moving light technologists.
• Contribute to special lighting projects and installations; maintain flexible scheduling for projects.
• Adhere to OSHA and Cirque du Soleil safety standards at all times.
• Support other departments as needed for cross-departmental collaboration.

We are looking for a Lighting Technician to bring support to our Lighting team. The Lighting Technician’s tasks include but is not limited to: running follow spot/deck cue tracks, maintaining cue track documentation, inspecting and maintaining Lighting equipment, as well as support the show needs during rehearsals and performances. The Lighting Technician Will Have The Opportunity To

• Learn and run follow spot/deck cue tracks, as directed by leadership, for performances, artist training, maintenance and special events;
• Ensure the safe setup, use and maintenance of Lighting systems and equipment used during performances, rehearsals and training periods by completing inspections in a timely manner;
• Use safe wiring practices and maintain equipment, in accordance with industry standards for safe operations;
• Assist with inventory, ensuring equipment and supplies are stocked in sufficient quantity to ensure the on-going needs of the production;
• Update all necessary maintenance and inspection records/documentation to ensure lighting systems and equipment are in compliance with Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group established policies and standards;
• Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation, as directed;
• Participate in special projects, including the construction and installation of new show elements, and other projects that include Lighting elements or other needs that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects;
• Develop a thorough knowledge of Lighting Department equipment specific to the production, in order to operate it safely;
• Assist with the cross-training program to backup console operators and moving light repair Technicians;
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
• Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
• Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
• Complete other job-related duties as assigned.

• At least two years of previous experience as a professional Lighting Technician or equivalent training in a similar environment;
• Basic knowledge of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs;
• Comprehension of basic principles of:
  • AC/DC electricity;
  • Basic electronics;
  • Computer operations, as it pertains to lighting systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset;
• Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
