  • Keep inventory of lighting supplies and report repair or replacement needs.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for cast and crew.
  • Attend production meetings and contribute ideas for lighting design improvements.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lighting Technician at Hamilton High School. This part-time position is ideal for someone with a passion for the performing arts and technical expertise in lighting design and operation. The Lighting Technician will work closely with the production team to ensure that all lighting elements enhance the overall performance experience.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and dismantle lighting equipment for various school and afterschool events, including theater productions, concerts, and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with directors, stage managers, and other technical staff to create effective lighting designs that meet the artistic vision of each production.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lighting equipment, ensuring all gear is in safe and working condition.
  • Assist in the programming of lighting cues and effects for rehearsals and performances.
  • Provide support during technical rehearsals and live performances, adjusting lighting as needed to accommodate changes.
  • Keep accurate inventory of lighting supplies and report any needs for repairs or replacements.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all cast and crew members.
  • Attend production meetings and contribute ideas for improving lighting designs and techniques.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; experience in theater production or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting equipment and techniques, including experience with lighting consoles and software.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
