Job summary

A leading event production company in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Entry-level Lighting & Shop Technician to assist with all LiveEvent needs. You will help design lighting systems, participate in event operations and support logistics for the LiveEvents team. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of professional lighting systems and consoles, as well as the ability to adapt to the dynamic nature of the industry. Flexibility for travel and working nights/weekends is necessary.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional Lighting systems and workflow is essential.
• Ability to create system diagrams using Vectorworks, Sketch-up, etc.
• Competence with event rigging and power systems required.

Lighting & Shop Technician is to assist the company with all LiveEvent needs. To work with a production team to be sure that LiveSpace is the best it can be with the resources available.

Reports to: Technical Manager

Responsibilities

• Help Layout and design Lighting systems in accordance to the needs of LiveSpace clients
• Assist with Pull and Prep the gear for each job (not limited to lighting)
• Load in, program, operate, and load out events.
• Support all warehouse logistics for the LiveEvents team
• Work with production team to staff the best team for the job
• Support Lighting Systems for the Integration Division
• Maintain positive rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, and recommending system improvements in a timely, professional manner
• Execute general maintenance, repairs and improvements of all company assets
• Research and report potential new products that LiveSpace would benefit from owning
• Maintain a safe work environment according to the company safety policy
• Broaden job knowledge by participating in professional development
• Track time accurately and effectively, using a specified system, and turn in time sheets when requested
• Stay current with licenses, certifications, trainings and any other knowledge-based opportunities, and with the latest technological/equipment advancements
• Assist company with fulfilling LiveSpace contracts
• Follow and enforce company policies, including employee handbook
• Maintain positive attitude during all of the above responsibilities
