Job summary

Dallas County Transportation Department is seeking a responsible Transport Technician to operate small buses and support Office functions. You will transport clients, supplies and equipment, assist with inventory, and perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, valid Texas driver’s license, and experience operating a small bus or related vehicle. Travel to multiple sites and compliance with safety and drug testing policies are required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program.
• One (1) year of work related experience in operating a small bus or similar type vehicle for transporting passengers and supplies or fifteen (15) hours from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study or a combination of the two.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record.
• Based on the location, this position may require the incumbent pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a small bus, pick-up truck or other applicable small vehicle to transport as applicable: clients, supplies, equipment, mail and other materials.
• Loads/unloads and conducts inventory and maintains records of transported items.
• Performs preventive maintenance checks and services on vehicles, to include checking oil and gas levels, tire pressure, cleaning and other related services.
• Assists office personnel in routine support tasks as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
