Job summary

Eddy County in Carlsbad, New Mexico, is seeking a Light Equipment Operator to support the Road Department in maintaining county roads and operating a variety of equipment. Starting pay is $22.06–$24.35 per hour DOE.

The role requires knowledge of sub-base and surface construction, proficiency with compaction equipment, and the ability to dig, grade, and place drainage structures as directed. Flexibility with hours and independent work is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sub-base compaction, base and surface construction for un-surfaced, surfaced and chip-sealed roads.
• Proficient in the use of compaction equipment to reach desired compaction levels.
• Ability to dig, grade and place drainage structures in rights-of-way or under roads as directed.

Responsibilities

• Works in a crew environment to maintain county roads.
• Operates light equipment and performs daily maintenance checks on equipment (DOT walk-around).
• May work irregular hours and attend job-related meetings as required.
• Contributes to directing work schedule under Road Managers as needed.
