The City of Troy, Department of Public Works, is seeking an Automotive Mechanic/Technician to service city vehicles and equipment. You will perform mechanical work, diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting, and install or remove emergency lighting and radio equipment.
Requirements include a high school diploma or trade school, 2 years of full-time automotive experience on light-medium trucks, and a valid Michigan driver's license.
Starting at: $31.03/hour additional $2.50 shift premium
After 3 years $32.94/hour
Per AFSCME* contract
Opportunities for hourly bonuses for additional ASE certifications (up to $3.00)
Uniform allowance of $450 per fiscal year provided to each active employee.

Applicants must receive at least a score of 70 on each portion be placed on the eligible list.
Current shift is Monday – Friday, 4:00 pm – 12:30 am. Overtime is required; employees must work at least 50% of overtime occurrences offered. Pursuant to Article 18 shift/schedule changes between first and second shift will be granted on the basis of seniority, within the same job classification, at the pay period immediately following November 1 st and April 1 st each year.
