Job summary

Mohawk Industries, a Fortune 500 flooring leader, seeks a Lift Truck Operator I for the D shift. You will operate gasoline or electric-powered forklifts to move materials, load/unload, and support manufacturing workflows in a fast-paced warehouse.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent; Lift Truck Certification is preferred. You will perform pre-shift inspections, follow safety procedures, and maintain production records as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operates gasoline/electric forklifts to move materials between areas.
• Uses lifting devices to load, unload, transport and stack items.
• Moves pallets and secures materials for designated areas.
• Dumps/releases materials into hoppers as required.
• Performs routine vehicle/equipment maintenance.
• Loads/unloads materials from pallets manually when needed.
• Operates automatic stacking/loading/cutting machines.
• Weighs materials and records weight and production data.
• Records quality and output metrics and completes paperwork.
• Performs pre-shift daily forklift inspection.
• Attends required job-related training.
• Follows all safety procedures and housekeeping rules.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Operate gasoline or electric-powered industrial trucks or tractors equipped with forklift and/or elevated platform to move materials. Duties are performed under general supervision following standard work procedures and guidelines.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

• Operates a fork lift or squeeze truck
• Must be able to perform the following duties:
  • Operates drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas
  • Operates lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material
  • Moves pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport to designated areas
  • Dumps, sprays, or releases materials into hoppers
  • Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment
  • Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, cars, or lifting devices
  • Operates or tends automatic stacking, loading, packaging, or cutting machines
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight and other production data as required
  • Records quality and output measures and completes any other necessary paperwork
  • Performing a pre-shift daily inspection on the lift truck
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Lift Truck Certification preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Prior experience in a warehouse or as a general laborer preferred
